The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is set to commence on January 13, with the Super Eagles among the 24 participating nations. The tournament, renowned as the pinnacle of African football, brings substantial financial rewards. CAF plans to distribute over N30 billion, with the winner of the 2024 edition in Cote d'Ivoire set to receive $7 million (over N6.70 billion), marking a 40% increase from the previous AFCON prize money. The prize breakdown includes $4 million for the runners-up, $2.5 million for each semi-finalist, and $1.3 million for each quarter-finalist. CAF President Patrice Motsepe highlighted the significant progress in increasing AFCON's prize money, emphasizing a 40% boost.
