A prominent billionaire family from South Africa has assumed control of Nigeria's largest beverage can manufacturer.

A significant development has taken place in Nigeria's business landscape as the son of South African billionaire Nicky Oppenheimer, Jonathan Oppenheimer, has acquired GZ Industries Ltd, the country's largest beverage can manufacturer. This acquisition, executed through Oppenheimer Partners Ltd in partnership with Affirma Capital, grants the billionaire family complete ownership of the company. The move comes at a time when some international companies are withdrawing from Nigeria due to perceived challenges in the business environment.

With this latest transaction, Jonathan Oppenheimer secures the remaining 37.5% stake in GZ Industries Ltd from Affirma Capital, consolidating control over the beverage can manufacturer.
