The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, explained why President Bola Tinubu directed the release of the 32 minors who were charged. Fagbemi stated that Tinubu made the decision to drop the charges because of his personal connection, having children and grandchildren. Speaking to reporters in Abuja, the AGF also mentioned that there were recommendations to have the minors tried in a family court.
