Helicopter Crashes in Port Harcourt

A helicopter plunged into a river in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday, 24 October. There were eight people on board, and the recovery of three corpses has so far been done. Details of the helicopter type remain unknown since no distress signal was received.

The Ministry of Aviation has launched an investigation into the incident and is working to establish the cause of the crash. This tragic incident again raises concerns about aviation safety in Nigeria, and authorities are committed to ensuring that such accidents will not occur again.

Enugu Governor Increases Minimum Wage to N80,000

The governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, emerged as the first governor in the southeast to increase the minimum wage above N70,000. The governor has approved a new minimum wage for all workers in the state including local government employees to N80,000. This is effective from October 2024.

This was announced after a meeting with labour leaders and the state's committee on implementation of minimum wage. Governor Mbah reiterated that for the state to actualize its economic ideals and reduce poverty, there was a need to inspire workers.
