Former Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has responded to allegations of excessive spending at his daughter's wedding.
The former governor of Gombe State and senator, Danjuma Goje, denied the spraying of money at his daughter's wedding held at the Central Mosque in Abuja. He explained that his family respects all laws of the land, which make such actions criminal. Indeed, the wedding was graced by dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, but it became a centre of controversy after a video showed money-spraying on the internet.
A newly hired maid was arrested for allegedly stealing jewelry worth over $60,000 from her employer just hours after starting the job.
A day after she was hired, police arrested 33-year-old Alice Udey, a maid, for stealing more than US$60,000 worth of jewelry from her employer. Police said she was part of a network targeting the homes of rich people. After a 16-month investigation, Udey was arrested and detained at Ikoyi Police Station in Lagos. The police say they expect her arrest to lead to further investigations and possible charges against other members of the criminal network.
