Evangel University, situated in Akaeze, Ozizi State, operates as a university under the control of the Assemblies of God Church. Such members of the church are offered reduced tuition rates. This practice has caused conversations about the church in Nigeria, where foreigners have censured churches for creating expensive universities that tend to be out of reach for their congregants.
