Did the Governor of Akwa Ibom appoint his daughter as the state's First Lady? Governor Eno provides clarification.
Umo Eno, the Akwa Ibom State governor had said his daughter Helen Obareki was not appointed First Lady, and would only assume that role upon the death of his wife Patience Umo Eno. This clarification came after Patience Umo Eno died on September 26, 2024.He said: “First Ladies are not appointed. Our daughter, Mrs. Helen Obareki, will coordinate the office of the First Lady. “She has been with her mother from the beginning, and this is not political—it’s natural.”
